Excellence in Education Grant
The purpose of the Alliance Public Schools Foundation Excellence in Education Grants Program is to provide educators and schools a source of funding to assist them in planning, developing and implementing innovative programs and creative opportunities, for which funds are not available through APS, which will result in increased student achievement. This effort will allow educators additional opportunities to help students grow and reach their highest potential.
Mrs. Behrend's Ukelele's for Joy
Alliance Public Schools Grandview Elementary students have “ukuleles” to add to their musical instruments thanks to funding by the Alliance Public Schools Excellence in Education Grants. Mrs. Sara Behrends, elementary music instructor, wrote a grant for a class set of ukuleles to further enrich the curriculum of the upper elementary students by providing another means by which to make music. Playing the ukulele improves coordination, provides an outlet for stress, promotes social/emotional growth, and assists in the development of reading and comprehension skills. Funding was awarded in the amount of $1008 to provide 24 ukuleles. The Foundation is proud to be able to enhance the music program with this award enriching over 250 students this year.
Mrs. Heimstra's CPR For AHS Student
Meagan Shrewsbury came to Mrs. Hiemstra's Health classes last week and CPR-certified over 53 students; bringing this year's total to 94 students certified. We appreciate her and her mom (Kim Galyen) volunteering their time to give our students this life-saving training! Mrs. Hiemstra would also like to thank the APS Foundation for their grant funding to purchase the certification cards and classroom training materials. We could not have done it without them!!
Mrs. Fingar's Literature Circle Project
“Introducing graphic novels into the classroom provides a unique opportunity to teach a different type of literacy: visual literacy. Students can be taught to “read” and analyze not only text, but color, shape, texture, layout, and more. This skill is going to become increasingly important in their world of digital media. It can also be transferred to text-based novels” (Przybylski, 2019).

Grant Application Process

Eligibility Review
Download the Excellence in Education Grant guidelines and read them carefully to determine if your project meets eligibility requirements.

Proposal Submission
The fillable PDF grant application may be downloaded once you have read the guidelines completely. Once the application is completed, it must be reviewed and signed by the building-level principal and submitted to Jenny Lanik by October 15th.
03
Final Evaluation
The Excellence in Education Grant review committee will notify all applicants by November 15th if they are being awarded a grant.
